MWO is under strong leadership of the general manager supported by finance & administration manager as well as the project manager. There are 66 employees with formal employment and MWO is aiming to expand production and employ 80 women and youth by 2025.
Mbalawala Women Organization (MWO) is a Non-Governmental Organization which registered under the Non-Governmental Organization Act No. 24 of 2002 as amended by Act No. 11 of 2005. MWO has been registered on August 22 2012. The main objectives is to empower women around mine site by engaging them in socio-economic activities which in turn would provide them with socio-economic empowerment through employment.
MWO has ten years of experience in implementing this coking coal briquettes project. Initially, the organization conducted a study and research and later on went to TBS for the quality certification and finally in 2022 MWO obtained a TBS certificate in the production of this energy
The project is sustainable, was aimed specifically for domestic purposes and institutions like schools, hospitals etc. Its production is based on expertise, is the mixture of coal dust, agricultural residues and water at a specified ratio. All raw materials are available and according to the research, the main raw material i.e. Coal dust, Tanzania is rich in coal estimate of billions of 1.2 to 1.9 tones with the ability to meet the needs of people of Tanzania for more than 100 years.
